Liversedge 0, Glapwell 2: A second under par performance from Liversedge saw Glapwell take the points with two first-half goals at Clayborn.

The home side were desperate to bounce back from last Saturday's goalless draw at struggling Armthorpe Welfare to boost their chances of a top-eight finish in the Northern Counties East Premier Division and qualification to next season's President's Cup.

In the end they got what they deserved, nothing. Even though they battled well in the second half the game was already over.

"The first half was as bad as last week, even after all the talking since then. The second was marginally better but still nowhere near good enough," said manager Eugene Lacy.

Glapwell had gone close twice before breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute.

Sedge centre back Wes Milnes wafted a foot in the direction of the ball without conviction and Richard Smith gleefully accepted possession 22 yards out. He darted into the area before finding the net with firm shot on the run.

While keeper Kyle Sutcliffe might have done better with that strike he was given no chance nine minutes later. His defence were napping once more and Shaun Varley was unchallenged as he guided in a header.

With Sedge goaded out of their slumber visiting keeper Neil West was forced into two premium saves before the break. His reactions denied both Anthony Bingham and Mark Brady.

Two good chances for Sedge followed at the start of the second half and six minutes from time the home side had the ball in the net, Craig Farrand turning in the area to fire a shot past West, but the strike was ruled out for offside.
