It is the day jobs, not the fixture pile-up, that will decide how Avenue perform tonight.

That is the view of manager Trevor Storton as his side head to Droylsden for their third game in six days.

Although Avenue are in the midst of a congested period of matches, his main fitness concerns are more related to players' work than their ability to play multiple games.

"A few of the lads are on their feet all day and of course that is going to effect how they play," said Storton.

"I know Jason (Maxwell) has just started work as a scaffolder and that is a hard job.

"He looked a little off the pace on Monday. When players turn up for these games you never know what you are going to get out of them. It just depends on what they have done during the day.

"Wayne Benn and Andy Wright are two more who are on their feet all the day. It is tough for them."

So far, Avenue have been coping fitness-wise with their fixture pile-up.

A hard-fought victory over Vauxhall on Saturday, their second of the season over the top-four side, was spoiled by snatching a draw from the jaws of victory on Monday at home to Frickley.

A two-goal lead was tossed away in the final minutes when a wonder goal and a header denied them their fifth win in a row.

But Storton believes his side can come away from the Butcher's Arms tonight with the points if they play like they did in the opening 89 minutes earlier this week.

"They are a tough side to play against and we are expecting a difficult game," said Storton, whose side have already matched the 59 points they earned in the UniBond Premier last season, with eight games still to play.

"They have a lad up front, Jimmy Haarhoff, who will be one to look out for. We won't be putting anyone on him, but we will be keeping an eye on him.

"He has a few tricks and gets into lots of good positions, so we have to be looking to contain him."

The game was originally scheduled for earlier in the month but was called off after overnight downpours, but the pitch is expected to be in good shape for tonight's encounter.

Storton is hoping midfielder David Donaldson will be over the hamstring strain that kept him out of the Frickley game, and the former Arsenal reserve will come back into the side for Robbie Painter if fit.

Chris Howe continues in goal for the injured Jamie Holmshaw while wing-back Richard Tracey is expected to be out for another two weeks with ankle ligament damage.
