There was a good attendance of 70 at the annual meeting of the Ilkley and District Motor Club which was held at the club's headquarters, Pool Mills Sports and Social Club.

The President, Mrs Janet Kitching, welcomed the new President, Francis Tindall, who had first been President ten years ago and would become the first person to be elected to a second term of office.

Janet said that the club had been active on many fronts on both the motor-cycle and car sides although it was felt that the Motor-cycle Re-Union Trial, started in 1950 by Geoff Fletcher, had run it course.

It was hoped that some form of Re-Union event involving car drivers could be organised instead.

The rallying side of the club had been very active and there had been important changes on the rally mar-shalling front.

Members had attended training sessions for certification and the club had supported the Motorsport Safety Fund with a donation.

There had been social visits to Jaguar at Browns Lane and to the local Aston Martin restorers as well as the other usual social events, culminating in the dinner-dance and prize presentation at The Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley.

The Club had again won the inter-club Larkspeed League Championship, this time for the eighth consecutive year.

Congratulations were extended to members who had competed successfully at National level and particularly David Mosey who had won the MSA, the BTRDA, ANCC and ANWCC Autotest Championships. The President stressed that the club was equally proud of all its award winners with particularly, this last year, the third generation of families not only competing but winning awards at the start of what it was hoped would be a lifelong involvement in the club.

The excellent Newsletter continued to keep members informed of activities and the web site was going from strength to strength.

The only downside of the year had been the death of Past President Brian Sands and the support of his wife Pat and family was gratefully acknowledged.

A charity dinner raised funds which were donated by the club and in memory of Brian to Cancer Re-search UK and Martin House Children's Hospice.

Janet particularly thanked her 'top table' of Richard Wood (Secretary) and Henry Kitching (Treasurer) and also her husband Bryan, for their support over the past two years and everyone else from Past Presidents through to the newest members, as all had contributed to the success of the club.

Reports were given by the Secretary Richard Wood and the Treasurer Henry Kitching on a successful year from both the competitive and financial sides.

Membership Secretary Sioned Kitching was giving her last report as she was standing down after 11 years.

She was pleased to report that the membership had continued to grow and the club now had over 380 members.

Sally Green was welcomed as the new Membership Secretary. Reports were also given by the Motor Cycle Secretary Maurice Rispin and the Car Competitions Secretary Karen Spencer on a successful season.

There then followed the election of officials by ballot.

Francis Tindall was elected as President. Francis had been a member since 1967 when he joined as a junior member and had competed in almost every aspect of the sport. He had served on Committee and later as Treasurer. His wife Jane and children Mark, Peter and Helen also competed regularly and would sup-port him well in his role as President.

The Club was pleased to welcome four new Vice Presidents in Henry Carr, Graham Hepworth, Sioned Kitching and Iain Tullie.

All four had been very involved with the Club for many years, both organising and competing and were particularly involved with the Jubilee Historic Rally.

Miss Sally Green was elected Membership Secretary and elected to serve on Committee for three years were Richard Evans, Sally Green, Neil Raven and Alastair Tullie; to serve two years were Martin Nolan, Rupert North, Colin Thorpe and Colin Valentine whilst John Harris, Phil Kershaw and Mark Tindall have a further year to serve.

Solicitor and Club Historian - Mrs Janet Kitching, Auditors - Messrs. Richardson Lightfoot, Company Secretary - Mrs Jane Tindall, Car Competitions Secretary - Miss Karen Spencer, Motor Cycle Secretary - Maurice Rispin, Awards Secretaries - Mr and Mrs Alastair Tullie, Editor Ilkley Newsletter - Neil Raven, Deputy Editor - Iain Tullie, Newsletter Production - Martin Nolan, Environmental Officer - Adrian Tate, Stage Commander - Peter Settle, Webmaster - Richard Evans.
