Thackley 0, Brigg Town 1: A single goal separated the two clubs vying for a top-four finish in the Northern Counties East Premier Division at Dennyfield last night and it cost Thackley a deserved return.

Brigg Town's winner came courtesy of a looping shot from Phil Rowlands on the stroke of half-time. It was their only attempt of the first half and it left home keeper Aaron Brian stranded.

Thackley skipper Craig Sugden almost redressed the balance in the 80th minute but his header from a corner came back off the bar and was hacked clear. Five minutes from time Dave Nelson met a cross from the right flank but glanced a header just wide of the target.

"We were disappointed because we had played so well after they got off to good start and had a busy first 20 minutes," said Thackley boss Andy Taylor.

"You never like to lose but if you do when you have played like that you can accept it."
