Harrogate Town 3, Farsley Celtic 1: Farsley Celtic lost their second successive West Riding County Cup final to Harrogate Town and it was their former record goal-scorer Robbie Whellans who put the final nail in thecoffin deep into extra time.

After last year's one-way final that Town won 4-1, Celtic took an early lead and dominated the first half but were left with nothing other than consecutive losers medals despite a good performance.

In the third minute, Amjad Iqbal produced a quality cross and Danny Spence despatched a firm shot from just inside the area to give the Celts a 1-0 lead. Town toiled away but Celtic keeper Jack Robinson had just one save to make before the interval.

He was finally beaten by Colin Hunter in the 52nd minute as Town came out for the second half with all guns blazing. A double chance for Celtic in the 77th minute almost provided a winner in normal time.

Goal hero Spence was faced with a one-on-one but his shot hit the legs of the Town keeper and ran behind the goal. The corner picked out substitute Mick Midwood but he headed agonisingly wide.

Eleven minutes into the first period of extra-time Matt Sykes put Town into the lead for the first time and Whellans made sure of the win against his old club.
