Farsley Celtic 0, Workington 1: Workington took all three points from this UniBond Division One clash back to Cumbria and few would begrudge them - but for the second time in a week Farsley Celtic had played well and got nothing.

Following the previous week's County Cup final defeat Celtic had given everything they could in two fixtures only to end the season mid-table in the league and without any

silverware.

To add insult they finished this match with ten men.

It had been a fiercely contested, uncompromising game but there was no hint of pre-meditated malice shown by any player on the pitch.

Just 18 minutes from time with the Celts running on empty after their extra-time cup loss and an afternoon of chasing shadows, and with Workington looking just about fair winners, match official Andrew Dale decided to take some stern action.

He had made a debatable decision at a Farsley free-kick early in the second half, the upshot being Workington midfielder Richard Prokas was shown a yellow card and the kick taken three times.

Then when Prokas was involved in a skirmish with Stuart Beech he was dismissed for a second bookable offence. Beech also went for raising his hands.

"That decision was the worst of the many bad ones made, not just by the referee but his assistants as well," said Celtic boss Martin Harersign, who added, "However, I've got no complaints about the result."

The misery for Celtic was compounded by the fact that Ben Jones was injured and could not chase back as the Cumbrians netted the winner through Craig Johnston.
