A disposable barbecue is believed to have started a three-hour moor fire near Keighley.
Two fire crews from Keighley and another from Bingley were called out to the blaze at Catstones Moor, between Cullingworth and Harden, at 6pm yesterday.
The appliances worked in a relay system to carry water to the seat of the fire which was put out by 9.30pm.
Gill Penny, landlady at The Guide pub on the edge of the moor said she heard the fire engines.
"I was quite busy at that time but I heard the sirens and I expect everyone will be talking about it today," she said.
"It is a picturesque spot and is popular with walkers and mountain bikers."
An extensive area of moorland was damaged by the fire.
