GOLFER Daryl Lee is set to join golf's elite on the Euro-Pro Tour.
Financial backing from local companies, Platinum Rails, the Pizza Ranch, Henry's Bistro, in Skipton, and Paul Royston's Workouts Gym have allowed the former Oakbank School pupil to take the plunge and play on the tour full time.
He has won a place on the tour after taking on 280 of the best pro golfers in a qualifying school at Saunton Golf Club in Devon. Only the top 30 got a place on the tour and Daryl finished in 10th place.
He started playing at Branshaw Golf Club as a 15-year-old and turned professional when he was 20.
"I' have been doing various jobs to try and pay my way into competitions, but this is the first time I have really been able to concentrate on my golf full time.
"Paul at Workouts is also going to develop a fitness programme for me which should help to make the difference needed to get consistently good results," he said.
A place on the Euro-Pro Tour will also bring much needed publicity, with competitions being screened on Sky Sports.
