Frazer McHugh has 11 days to show he is good enough for Division One.

The 21-year-old midfielder was one of City's few shining lights at Gillingham on Monday and boss Nicky Law has promised another chance in the final three games.

McHugh is on a short-term contract until the end of the season as he looks to establish a pro career at the second attempt after an earlier spell with Swindon.

Law took McHugh, left, to Chesterfield on loan and has kept tabs on the player since he dropped back into non-league.

He said: "Frazer's only here another two weeks and we need to see what he can do if we are going to take him on for next year.

"It was a difficult game for him to play in at Gillingham but he certainly didn't let himself down, unlike a few others.

"He broke things up, never gave the ball away and didn't over-complicate things. It was a good debut.

"I wanted to have a look at him and he's definitely earned another chance before the end of the season."

McHugh, who has been playing for Halesowen Town in the Dr Martens League, said: "I know I've got to keep working hard and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

"I was delighted the gaffer gave me a chance on Monday. I always get a little bit nervous before every game but I got over that quickly and made the most of it.

"It was great to be involved and I've just to keep working hard for another chance."
