Brian Noble today accused the RFL of a witch-hunt after Stuart Fielden was cited for raising his knees in last week's Super League match with Hull.

The Great Britain prop (pictured) was reported for a 20th-minute clash with Jason Smith and will face a hearing later today to discover his fate.

Smith dislocated his shoulder in the incident while Fielden tore a cruciate ligament that will keep him out for four months, although he was told yesterday he wouldn't need surgery.

An incident involving Richard Moore, after which Hull's Chris Chester left the field with a groin injury, was also put on report by the match official although the panel decided there will be no case to answer - this leaves Moore available for the final showdown with Leeds.

But it is the RFL's treatment of Fielden, who is understood to have received three warning letters concerning his running style in the past, that has angered the Bulls coach.

"There is an element of witch-hunting in the RFL," said Noble, who will have to join Fielden at today's hearing.

"There is no doubt if you look at every game of every team you will find players raising their knees.

"I am disappointed for Stu."

Noble was clearly furious that his star prop was cited although he was refusing to comment further.

"I have a disruptive trip to the judiciary but I will not let that take anything away from the fact that we are focusing on a final," he added.

The Rugby Football League were not prepared to comment on Noble's outburst, but it is understood that other players at other clubs have this week received letters warning about leading with their knees in the

tackle.

RFL technical director Stuart Cummings said: "Stuart Fielden has received letters from us on previous occasions about his running style and the committee have decided to refer him on this occasion.

"Richard Moore is being treated in exactly the same manner as his club mate and we will be watching to see whether he makes suitable amendments to his playing style."

And England 'A' international Moore was delighted at the reprieve that has made him available for selection for Saturday.

"It has been a nervous few days for me," said Moore, who is the obvious replacement for Fielden in the front row. "I've been fidgety the last few days waiting to hear what is going to happen.

"I thought maybe I would miss the final just because of a silly mistake.

"Ever since I was a kid all I have ever wanted to do is play in a Challenge Cup Final, it would be a dream come true.

"I just hope I get selected now I am available."
