Detectives hunting a man shot in the right leg in a Bradford street have raided a house in the search for suspects.

Officers searched a home in the Bradford Moor area of the city yesterday in the hunt for those responsible for the shooting of a 25-year-old man in Horton Grange in the early hours of yesterday, but did not find anyone at the address.

The victim was today in a stable condition in hospital with an armed police guard watching over him. The Asian victim is believed to have been shot high in the right leg from close range with a shotgun.

It is believed officers now know the identity of their suspects, thought to be Asian men, but will not be drawn on who they are searching for.

Officers are still trying to peace together a motive for the shooting in Waverley Road at 12.20am yesterday.

Detective Superintendent Phil Sedgwick, who leads the hunt for the gunmen, said the attackers could easily have killed their victim. "This shooting could have had fatal consequences," he said. "People who fire weapons at close range can easily kill, but we don't know whether they were trying to kill him or just injure him."

Officers were called to the scene yesterday after witnesses reported seeing a man lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds.
