WE could not have asked for a better start to our League campaign. Four points from four and top of the league.

But we know we can play better and that is extremely encouraging. I would personally like to congratulate all of the players for all their hard work over the last six months as we have been preparing for the season to begin.

When a player like Jason Ramshaw says that the team spirit at the club is as good as he has known in his time at Cougar Park, it means a lot.

Please don't get me wrong I am not getting carried away with things, there is a long way to go yet, our long-term goal is to make the play-offs in September. If we continue improving as we go along, I feel we can achieve that goal.

I AM sure those of you at the game on Monday noticed Paul Aston's hair cut. Ashy sees himself as a bit of a fashion icon.

A couple of weeks ago I thought he had started to sell ice cream but I was informed the white overcoat was his latest fashion accessory. In my day, men in white coats came to take you away, not to play Rugby League.

Paul's Dad is former GB scrum-half Ray Ashton. Ray played in my era and was a no nonsense tough customer.

I asked Ashy what his Dad thinks about his new hairstyle,

"Hasn't seen it yet, he's on holiday," he said.

I can just picture Ray's face on his return. I think I'll ring him and ask his thoughts - if it's printable I'll let you know.

IT'S the Challenge Cup Final this weekend and there will be a mass exodus from West Yorkshire to see the Bulls versus the Rhinos at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

As a former Leeds player I have to admit I will be cheering for the rhinos but if Richard Moore makes the Bulls line up I also have to admit I will be hoping the big fella has a big game. It will be fantastic for the young kids in Keighley to see a local boy playing in rugby league's showpiece. Good luck Richard from all at Cougar Park.

Congratulations to the Cougar Academy who earned their first points of the season last Saturday at Cougar Park against the London Broncos. They were actually leading at one point. Keep up the good work lads!
