THE major final of the Craven football season comes on Wednesday when Skipton LMS meet Settle United in the final of the Slater Marchant Cup.

The fixture takes place at Barnoldswick United's ground, 6.30 kick off.

Settle secured their final spot with a 3-1 victory over Bradley with goals from Matthew Wildman, Andrew Wheildon and Tommy Murray.

Settle were first to get to grips with the bumpy pitch and took an early lead when they scrambled the ball home from a corner.

Bradley had looked nervous but the goal seemed to spark them into life. Leading scorer Neil Henderson was on hand to equalise with a close range finish.

Play swung from end to end before Settle took the lead again before half time.

Bradley had a good spell just after half time but could not pull a goal back. Settle weathered the storm and then began to launch their own attacks. A long throw was nodded on and into the net to give them a two goal cushion.

Whenever Bradley did threaten, Darren Egerton in the Settle goal kept them at bay.

In the other semi-final, LMS were 4-1 winners over Barnoldswick United's reserve team after a scoreless first half.

The deadlock was broken when Rob Kaminski was brought down in the area and Steve Carling slotted home the penalty.

Within five minutes LMS were two up when a Darren Phillip free kick 25 yards out hit the post and Andy Bate was on hand to tuck home the rebound.

Barnoldswick fought hard to come back and earned their reward when LMS failed to clear a free kick.

But the LMS reply was instant. Straight from the kick off Matt Reeday made a great run down the right and crossed the ball for Tom Wolstenholme to score from close range.

With a few minutes remaining Wolstenholme showed his goal poaching instincts to finish off a good LMS move.

The Norman Pratt Trophy final is to be replayed on Monday between Ingleton Reserves and Skipton LMS Reserves (at Settle United, kick off 6.15pm) after a 2-2 draw in the first match.
