Liversedge 0, Thackley 3: Thackley edged the last derby of the season to run out 3-0 winners over Liversedge who were playing their last game in the Northern Counties East Premier Division this term.

The victors still have two matches left and this win ensured they will be the top Bradford side in the division and it also maintained their sixth place in the table.

Despite the three-goal margin and their clean sheet, Thackley did not dominate the game and Sedge played their full part in an entertaining encounter.

"We had plenty of the ball but it's no good having that if your not going to do anything with it," said defeated manager Eugene Lacy.

"But the result meant nothing, there wasn't anything at stake. It was just about local pride and Thackley came out on top."

His opposite number Andy Taylor was pleased with his side's performance and delighted to get another three points from what was a tight derby.

"I don't think the scoreline flattered us, we could have been four goals up inside the first quarter hour," said the Thackley boss.

"Yes they had long spells of possession and a good second half, but they didn't really get behind us or cause too many scares in our defence.

"They were at us and we were under a bit of pressure but went straight up the other end and made it 3-0. It was that goal that finished it off really."

Thackley had already hit the bar, through Dave Nelson, before they opened the scoring in the fifth minute. Sedge keeper Kyle Sutcliffe called for centre-back Steve West to head the ball back to him when he could have elected to deal with it himself.

West was left with a difficult bouncing ball and the visitor's leading scorer Andy Patterson needed no invitation. He nipped in and drilled a shot past Sutcliffe.

The contest was briefly halted when a 34th-minute challenge on Thackley's Mark Senior by Paul Cuthbertson ended with the visitors' midfielder being stretchered off.

It looked like a bad injury at the time and Senior was replaced but he was back on his feet by half-time.

Just a minute before the interval Thackley forward Darron Morris found himself in space on the far side of the area and he found the net with a dipping ten-yard drive. On the hour a corner for the visitors ended with a scramble in the area and skipper Craig Sugden launched himself to net a header.
