A Bradford worker has won the Institution of Incorporat-ed Engineers (IIE) Career Achievement Award for his innovative engineering work with Yorkshire Water. Marc Lupton, 23, was presented with the Young Members Service (YMS) award at the recent Sir Henry Royce Memorial Lecture in London, and also received a cheque for £500. Marc is leading a project at the Yorkshire Water offices on Vicar Lane, Bradford, to develop a solution for monitoring no-flow conditions in pumping stations, which involves the design, prototyping and testing of the equipment, as well as the data analysis. An outcome of the project included the design of a patent-pending flow measurement device that Marc helped invent, and which also won a Yorkshire Water Business Excellence Award for Innovation. Marc, who lives in Bradford all his life, said the award was a shock.
