About 400 trade unionists led by a jazz band marched through Bradford to Lister Park at Manningham for a May Day rally. They were addressed by Mr Edward Lyons, MP for Bradford West, and local union leaders. There were no incidents and no arrests.

Fifty Bradford people are engaged full-time making approximately 4,000 Coronation souvenirs each week. Samples of the souvenirs are being sent to countries all over the world. The manufacturers are the Applied Art Glass Co. Ltd, Simes Street, Bradford.This is the first time that the firm has made Coronation souvenirs and it is only in the past few years that it has entered the fancy glass market.
