CANCER sufferer Jane Tomlinson came to Addingham to receive a donation from supporters in the village on Tuesday evening.

Jane, who recently completed a marathon bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End for charity, arrived at The Fleece Inn in Addingham on Tuesday.

The Friends of Addingham Primary School selected Jane's charity as the recipient of a 'bucket' collection held after their annual pantomime back in February. After the performance of 'Babes in the Wood' audience members donated more than £600 for Jane's cause.

Chairman of the Friends of Addingham Primary John Whitham said: "It was great to see her. What she has done is amazing really- it puts me to shame.

"It was a nice evening, just an informal get-together to hand the money over to Jane and her husband, Mike, who were pleased to receive it.

"We raise money each year through the pantomime, when whoever's directing it suggests a charity which we agree with. Then it's just a matter of announcing the cause at each night of the panto and collecting the money in a bucket."
