A host of exciting events have now been confirmed for Ilkley's first Summer Festival.

Planned to launch on Yorkshire Day, August 1, the three-week event has attracted everything from an outdoor musical concert on The Grove to an orienteering day on Ilkley Moor.

Also now confirmed is a rock climbing day at the Cow and Calf Rocks, a landscape painting workshop and a series of heritage walks and a Teddy Bears Picnic organised by the Manor House Museum.

Lovers of all things groovy should mark August 1 in their diary, meanwhile, as a 1960s revival event, featuring Tornadoes with Telstar, has been confirmed for the festival's opening day.

Two major outdoor events are being organised on The Grove for the festival - with Ilkley Parish Council setting up a concert for Saturday, August 23, and Wharfedale Lions busy arranging a family day for Sunday, August 24.

Tables will be available to hire on both occasions, in an arrangement similar to last year's successful Jubilee party.

Other activities being finalised include an open tennis tournament, a party in the park at Riverside Gardens, and an art show.

The festival will also tie in with the 50th Ilkley Flower Show , which takes place in the King's Hall's Winter Garden on August 16.
