Yeadon'S patched up bowling attack was rolling along quite nicely at Baildon on Saturday. That is until Mushtaq Ahmed and Tom Atkinson produced a record breaking eighth wicket stand of 146 for the home side.

Baildon lost opener Simon Davies without scoring - yet another victim for the retired but recalled John Roper after a catch by wicketkeeper David Russell.

Slater and Spragg then restored the balance a little before former Guiseley CC lads Matthew Duce (28) and Craig Thornton (20) boosted the score.

The former Yeadon skipper Thornton, a PE teacher at Menston St Mary's School was caught out by his sixth form pupil James Todd off the bowling of Roper.

Roper was really making his mark bagging four wickets as Baildon were held in check at 117-7.

Then Mushtaq arrived at the wicket and produced an explosive innings of 105 not out to share an eighth wicket partnership of 146 with Atkinson who made an unbeaten 58.

Mushtaq hammered 7 sixes and 8 fours off the hapless Yeadon bowling attack which is still lacking its Indian overseas player and the travelling Chris Henry.

This allowed Baildon to finish on a superb 262-7. Roper had bowled steadily as ever for 4-53 off 15 overs but obviously did not have to face the might of Mushtaq in all his pomp.

Yeadon were undaunted by the score facing them and set out to get some much needed batting practice. Young opener James Todd carved out an unbeaten 47 and shared a first wicket stand of 53 with coach Harvey Anderson who made 26.

Yeadon made 119-2 in reply off 33 overs before rain stopped play.

Yeadon seconds had another excellent win, this time by nine wickets over visitors Bowling Old Lane.

They were skittled for 107 as slow bowler Steve Gilks claimed 5-55 to set up victory.

The mantle was taken on by Darren Smith, who has returned to the club from Guiseley CC, and he hammered an unbeaten 86 to give Yeadon victory in quick time.
