Bradford's gorgeous guys and girls wowed the crowds and took to the catwalk for the finals of the Telegraph & Argus Model Search competition.

More than 100 people battled it out to be crowned the kings and queens of the Kirkgate Centre before proud parents, friends and shoppers.

A crowd of 300 people watched the wannabe models who donned their hippest clothes and put their hair in the latest showbiz styles to impress the panel of judges.

Contestants were fighting it out to win vouchers to spend at shops in the centre.

Finalists also got the chance to be considered by the Sandra Reynolds Model Agency, based in London and Norwich, for a photo shoot.

Model Search director Michael Knowles was on hand on a specially-erected catwalk to act as compere for the event.

In the first category, ages four to six, Kyle Ransley, six, of Shipley, won the boy's event after wowing the judges with his winning smile.

Morgan Connell, five, of Holme Wood, and Ashton Greenwood, four, of Wibsey, shared the prize in the girls' section as the votes cast for them were tied.

Yasmin Amindari, ten, of Idle, and Joshua Eliasz, seven, scooped the prizes in the seven to ten-year-old category.

After an extremely close-fought contest in the adult section, 21-year-old Nicola Feather, of Thorpe Edge, and 20-year-old Chris Ndukuba, of Holme Wood, showed they had the catwalk presence to win the prizes.

Last, but by no means least, nearly thirty 11-to-15-year-olds hit the stage.

Hannah Mayho, twelve, of Cullingworth, and Warren Tolley, 14, of Bradford, won the prizes.

Warren Tolley's mum Sheila, 36, said her son was ecstatic to win his section after narrowly missing out in last year's event.

"I was really excited for him," she said. "He went in for the competition last year and he was hoping to win it this time. The whole contest was really good."

Hannah Mayho's proud dad, Dennis, said he was delighted with his daughter's success.

"Hannah was very surprised to win," he said. "She went into the competition open minded and not expecting anything but was very pleased to come first.

"Modelling is something she's interested in but I think she's just prepared to take it one step at a time at the moment."

Adult section winners Chris Ndukuba and Nicola Feather said they were both delighted to win their section.

The Kirkgate Centre's manager Catherine Riley, one of the judge's for the day, said: "The competition has been superb. The quality of the entrants has been so high.

"The atmosphere has been really warm and friendly and there have been lots of families here cheering on their children."

Model Search director Michael Knowles said: "Every age group was fantastic but the adults section was particularly strong."
