OTLEY: The ladies combined two competitions incorporating the County Foursomes into their Coronation Foursomes. A strong wind helped to make the general conditions very tricky although the Ladies' captain, Mrs J Hodgson, figured prominently in both sets of results.

Coronation Foursomes: 1, I Harder and E Binns, 93-21.5-71.5; 2, L Tolchard and J Hurren, 112-40-72; 3, J Hodgson and S Thomson, 95-22.5-72.5.

County Foursomes: 1, I Harder and E Binns, 93-21.5-71.5; 2, J Hodgson and S Thomson, 95-22.5-72.5; 3, B Jamieson and N Nicklin, 87-12.5-74.5.

The men also combined two competitions, this time incorporating the EGU Gold Medal with the playing of the May Medal. The two players to again feature prominently were Paul Kelley, who won the First Division, and Chris Longthorne, who again shot the lowest gross. Results were:

Division One - P Kelley, 76-9-67; B Newbould, 82-11-71; S Howe, 82-11-71. Division Two - A Halsall, 83-14-69; G Lake, 87-16-70; D A Taylor, 86-16-70. Division Three - A Waye, 87-20-67; A Bytheway, 91-19-72; M Frisby, 96-24-72.

Paul Kelley won the EGU Gold Medal by virtue of a better back nine than Tony Waye.

Cookridge Hall: The regular Thursday session was attended by 39 seniors who competed in a stableford full handicap competition.

Hugh Calder scraped together 36 points but was beaten into third place by Alan Higgs, who scored a solitary point more than Hugh. However, John Blanchard outstripped them both with a solid 39 points, an admirable score considering the scorecard battering conditions.

The day's event was the third of 12 qualifiers for the prestigious season-long Top Senior Award, a competition that is decided by averaging each individual's best six scores.

Horsforth:The Will Davis four-ball, better-ball had the leading 16 pairs qualifying for the match play rounds. 83 pairs entered with the qualifying scores ranging from 61 down to 67.

Results:1, D Witherspoon and P Burtonshaw - 61; 2, S Rothwell and A Rothwell - 63; 3, J Gunn and T Hirst - 63; 4, P Shilton and A Jones - 64.

More recently, Saturday's competition was a three man team stableford with two scores to count at each hole.

Results: 1, D Vine (4), T Hirst (6) and C Vine (10) - 82 points; 2, F Robinson (16), M Sample (7) and C Bennett (13) - 80 points; 3, S Penistone (12), P Gill (11) and A Jones (11) - 80 points. Nearest the pin with a distance of 30 inches was A Greenhalgh, Captain for 2003.

The Ladies' competition was a Greensome with 19 couples entered.
