OVER 120 people attended Guiseley Rangers Amateur Rugby League Club's end of season presentation evening last Friday at the Fairfax Club, Menston.
Players and parents from the Under-8s and Under-10s along with senior players were rewarded with individual trophies for their efforts throughout the 2003 season.
Guest speaker was founder-member of the Shaw Lane ARLFC, BARLA member, former Leeds and District secretary and also former professional Rugby League referee Frank Robinson.
Super League players Andy Lynch and Wayne Godwin were on hand to present to awards.
The Under-8s Parents' Player-of the-Year was Adam Lay; runner-up was Gabriel Lawrence, and the Most Improved Player was Joseph Tattersall.
The Under-10s Parents' Player-of-the-Year was Josh Pattison; runner-up was Edwin Clement and Most Improved Player was shared by Harrison Durkin and Jamie Moores.
Although the senior team disbanded in January the team was well represented on the night and the Player-of-the-Year award was won by 17-year-old Rob Grey.
The most senior member of the squad, Craig Adamson, collected the Players' Player-of-the-Year award.
Chairman Dave Clayton praised all the players for their commitment, the parents for their support and providing of the buffet, and he went on to thank the match board sponsors and Max Glass for the sponsoring of the end of season trophies.
Thanks were also extended to Guiseley Cricket and Football Club for the use of their excellent after match facilities along with Green Lane Cricket Club for the use of their dressing room facilities.
Finally, the chairman went on to thank coach Andy Durkin, physio Tracey Clayton and Tony Grey for his match day assistance.
The evening concluded with disco and the club will now start looking at the prospects for next season.
Cougar Cubs 56, Rangers U-8s 46
OVER 100 points were scored in this thrilling encounter, the score suggesting that there was little tackling but there was some tremendous running and some length of the field tries scores.
For Rangers it was really the Adam Laycock show. His powerful running saw him score seven tries.
Harry Young was also rewarded with a try when his run took him through tacklers to touch down.
What was also very pleasing was that Daniel Holt, Brayden Rhodes, Daniel Clarke, Adam Laycock, Harry Young, Michael Waldron and Alex Hobson all kicked one goal each.
This was a very satisfactory performance by all the Rangers' players and they will improve even further.
