When Diana and Peter Jenkins organised a charity walk in memory of their granddaughter, little did they imagine the way the event would develop over 11 years.
But, during that time, the number of people taking part has grown beyond their own family.
And this year they hope to raise at least £1,000 for Epilepsy Action and are urging other people to get involved.
The couple did their first sponsored walk in 1992 after they lost they granddaughter Stacey, who died after suffering an epileptic fit during the night. She was just four years old.
They joined in with Epilepsy Action's Out in the Open walks, which take place all over the country as part of National Epilepsy Week.
The walks are intended to raise awareness of the condition, the UK's most common serious neurological condition which affects around one in 133 people, as well as raise funds for Epilepsy Action.
"Stacey was diagnosed when she was two," said Mrs Jenkins.
"We kept asking whether she could die from the condition and we were told no.
"She had a major seizure when she was four and spent three days in intensive care before she died.
"Since it happened, we've heard about more cases where people have died.
"We do this walk to keep her memory alive and so the money can be spent on research.
"About ten people took part in our first walk.
"Since then, it's evolved and grown and it's become more about the children who are involved.
"We've also had families from other parts of Leeds ,whose children have epilepsy, getting involved."
Mrs Jenkins has six grandchildren aged between four and 11 years old and a large focus of the event they organise is now geared towards them and other children.
'Stacey's Walk' will take place on Sunday, May 18, with walkers being asked to meet at the bandstand at Yeadon Tarn at 11.30am.
The walk will take around two hours and will be followed by refreshments and fundraising activities at The Guide Hall, opposite Aireborough Leisure Centre, Guiseley.
"The children organise stalls and it's surprising how quickly their 10pences and 20pences add up," she said.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact Mrs Jenkins on (01943) 879867.
