IN the Second Teams League rain was again the winner in most cases.

Despite constant drizzle at the end of Burley's innings the umpires tried to ensure that play continued. Burley were chasing a Calverley total of 165-8 of which N Thornton had made 60.

The aggression shown by the Burley batsmen encouraged them to maintain play as long as light deemed fit.

The reward came soon after the 30th over with Burley winning by a five wicket margin.

Jamie Davey excelled in the poor conditions and led by example as captain with a knock of 48.

Rawdon's J Statham hit a superb 84 before being run out. His side went on to notch 176-6 against Otley who were 83-1 when rain stopped play. Opener Jonty Maston produced an excellent knock of 66 no.

Guiseley made 156-9 struggling on a wet wicket against Green Lane who were 52-3 when rain stopped play. Ian Colquhoun was Guiseley's batting star with a knock of 55 not out while young Michael Slater took the bowling honours for Lane with 4-36 off 11 overs.

Ilkley's game against Adel was also rain affected,. Ilkley being dismissed for 165 as R Mumford took 4-50 and R Ewen 3-38. There was some solid batting fromn Phil Sant (41) and Mark Beevor (42). Adel reached 68-2 off 21 overs, Ian Jones remaining unbeaten on 37.

Kirkstall managed to forge a win before the rain dismissing Hall Park for 118. Kirkstall knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets with a half-century from S Wilkinson.

Menston took four points from a drawn game with Addingham making 199. Opener A Clark hit 102 for Addingham in reply but his side finished on 196-7.
