A storm has blown up today over confidential school reports prepared in Bradford which contain details of parents' convictions and social habits. Marie Macey, lecturer in Education at Bradford University, writing in the parents' magazine, said the information on children and their parents had no educational justification. Comments include: "Pasty, podgy, vacant, moribund, harmless, frustrating - father convicted of growing cannabis."

Frizinghall Aces Cycle Speedway Club, Bradford, have cancelled their speedway matches at Frizinghall until further notice because one of their members became a confirmed smallpox case yesterday. The man is a Baildon miner, aged 20, who was stated today to be "still very ill" in Oakwell Hospital, Birstall. He was reported as a suspected smallpox case on Monday. He visited Odsal Speedway last Saturday with other members of the Frizinghall club. The members usually congregate to the right, below the four main lights at the stadium.
