Staff and regulars at two Keighley pubs dug deep into their pockets to raise cash for the families of troops killed during the Iraq War.
The Friendly Inn, in Aireworth Street, and The King's Head, in South Street, held a joint charity fundraiser on May Day for the organisation UK Forces in The Gulf.
The event was the brainchild of East Morton resident Lynne Greenham, who organised a host of fun events with staff at the pubs to raise money for the families of servicemen and women killed in the conflict.
Mrs Greenham's niece Claire Greenham, 21, has been stationed in the Gulf throughout the conflict to provide back-up in case of a chemical attack. Another of her nieces, Stacey Roe, 19, who is serving as a caterer with the RAF, was on standby at a base in Lincolnshire during the recent conflict.
Said Lynne: "It was an absolutely marvellous day and everyone put their hands in their pockets and gave very generously.
"A few of the lads who are regulars had their legs and under arms waxed and we had a tombola and raffle. A rugby ball signed by the Cougars and presented by Gary Moorby will also be raffled.
"We went around the pubs collecting and the response we got from everyone was excellent.
"Although I came up with the idea the support from the two pubs has been brilliant and I would like to thank everyone who supported and helped organise the event."
Lynne has expressed particular thanks to Marilyn and Allan Smith, at The Friendly Inn, and Carole and Fred Clarke, at the Kings Head, for their support.
Organisers have also thanked Keighley Cougars, Timothy Taylor, Willis Walker, H B Clark and June Robinson.
