Keighley Gala is poised for TV stardom.
BBC film crews are set to descend on this year's event to shoot scenes for a documentary.
The programme is planned following the discovery of some discarded footage depicting various galas early last century, including the Keighley event in 1904.
Now present-day bosses of the annual charity extravaganza are urging historic organisations which may have been represented at the 1904 celebration to get involved in this year's event on June 7.
Chairman Brian Hudson said: "This old film was found in a skip, but the quality of it is very good. It would have been commissioned by the fairground people of that time and shown in booths.
"The footage apparently features a lot of galas, but many of them have disappeared over the years.
"I got a phone call from the BBC asking about our gala. They are looking at doing a series of three hour-long documentaries, one of which would centre on ourselves. The idea is to show how little the traditional event has actually changed over the past century.
"Our gala has survived more or less in its original form and we would like to try to get as many organisations as possible -- that may have been involved 100 or so years ago -- taking part this year. Although we are still awaiting confirmation from the BBC that filming will be carried out, it is an extremely exciting prospect."
Other groups or individuals interested in taking part in next month's gala -- as part of the procession, by providing entertainment or simply helping out on the day -- are also being sought.
A new feature this year is a balloon release, which it is hoped will raise £1,000.
Ticket sales are going well. On Saturday alone £112 worth were sold at Morrisons' supermarket in Keighley.
Entry to the Victoria Park gala venue will be free and it is hoped that proceeds from the balloon event will help off-set the funds no longer raised through admission charges.
