COUGARS go into Sunday's game against York determined to keep their 100 per cent league record alive.

They have started the campaign in superb form with wins over Hunslet, London Skolars and Chorley. Now they have to keep the momentum going with a victory over the revitalised York outfit.

"They have struggled to find their feet in the opening fixtures, having lost two and drawn one, but they have several quality players in their ranks and I sure that they will 'click' sooner or later," said Cougar coach Gary Moorby.

He added: "They will no doubt be looking to kick-start their season against us on Sunday. We have prepared well and hope to get another win under our belts."

The club is also hoping for one of the biggest crowds of the year as the league campaign gets into full swing.

"We have shown that we can compete with the best teams outside Super League and this season should be a real cracker. The atmosphere is returning to Cougar Park and we want everyone to get behind the club and really enjoy themselves," Moorby said.

Travelling fans certainly had plenty to shout about after their trip to Chorley last weekend. After trailing at the end of the first half they fought back with a powerful performance.

"When Ian Sinfield came on he really lifted us and I thought he and Danny Ekis were our best forwards. At half time I asked the players if they had enough character to win the game, and they came good."

This week Moorby has a full quad to select from with Chris Hannah back from suspension and Chris Wainwright, a late withdrawal last week with a sore back, reporting fit.

"We have been playing some superb rugby an this should be another good game," Moorby said.

n Matt Firth scores his second try as the Chorley pack realise victory is slipping from their grasp.
