JEREMY Harding and Paul Pethybridge finished runners-up in the Bradford Golf Union Foursomes Strokeplay championship on Sunday.
The Skipton pair were four shots behind Northcliffe's Gareth Evans and Andy Town, the England amateur international, who retained their title and head the 16 qualifiers for the foursomes matchplay championship, which they also won last year.
Harding and Pethybridge shot two 74s at Keighley for a 148 total - but in fact they were one stroke better after signing for the wrong score in their first round.
They signed for a 73, which was what they shot, but, when the card was checked by Bradford officials, it totalled one more, and under the rules that was what counted.
However, it could not detract from a steady performance in the windy conditions and they backed it up with another consistent round in the afternoon, spoilt only by a triple bogey on one hole.
They are joined in the 16 qualifiers by Ghyll's Martin Robinson and Stephen Pickles, who finished fourth with a 150 total and Skipton captain Richard Addyman and Adrian Robertson, who shot 76, 77 to finish 12th.
