AFTER two weeks of JP Mewies Craven & District Cricket League action, only seven teams have 100 per cent records following the poor weather of last weekend.

More than half of the games were ended prematurely, with no play possible in one game. It would appear that to win last Saturday, the side batting first had to be dismissed for a lowish score inside 35 overs, which allowed the opposition to gallop to the points.

In the First Division a good example of this came at Long Lee. The home side were dismissed for a modest 64 in 32 overs as Chris Welch took 5-17 and Dave Robinson 3-33. Visitors Cullingworth knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket in just 11.4 overs.

Oakworth recovered from the possibility of a modest score with some tail wagging to lift their total to 200-9 in their 45 overs up at Cure Hill. Barrowford were staring down the barrel at 9-2 when play ceased.

Embsay had done all the hard work at Shires Lane by bowling Bradley out for 97. A gritty knock of 41 by Neil Robinson held up the home side long enough for the weather to intervene. John Metcalfe took 5-44 and Nas Hussain 4-14. The reply was cantering along at 64-1, with skipper Duncan Bullough making 35no, when the rain arrived.

Simon Bates rattled 73 for Skipton CI as they posted 144 at Cowling as Martyn Dalby finished with 4-31. The home side had reached 83-2 at the close.

The two sides with a brace of wins in the Second Division are Sutton and Ingrow. The former were at home to Airedale and dismissed them for 116, with Mark Watkins top scoring with 31 as Justin Holdsworth claimed 3-24. Danny Brown, with 55, was the backbone of the home side's seven-wicket win.

Meanwhile, Ingrow were dismissing visitors Carleton for 117. Tom Mitcham made 39no as Sutcliffe took 4-29, but it took the Keighley side only 15.3 overs to knock off the runs for the loss of only one wicket, Parker leading the way with 60.

There were two other results in the section. Gargrave were dismissed for just 46 by visitors Chatburn, with John Lockley 6-15 and Ali 3-8 doing the damage as the Ribblesdale side romped to a seven-wicket victory.

Jimmy Nelson's made 145 at home to Ingrow St John's, with Tony Stafford scoring 59 as David Greenwood took 5-23. The Saints surprisingly made only 75-8 in their 45 over reply.

Barrowford and Embsay are the two on top of Division Three. Hopefully the weather will change to allow the two to slug it out tomorrow..

The Bull Holme side were at home to Long Lee, who were dismissed for 99. Simon Doane scored 31 as Nigel Jones took 4-27. Nigel Hargreaves and David Wilkinson both scored 39 as the home side triumphed by six wickets.

Embsay were at Morton and dismissed Ingrow St John's for 80. The Shires Laners romped home by seven wickets, with skipper Alan Robinson leading the way with 32.

The other result in the division came down at Sandylands, where Skipton CI saw off Thornton by seven wickets. John Stuttard took 7-28 for the winners.
