Finishing first did not win the Bradford 30 Club rally for disabled drivers which was held for the tenth successive year. The club, which exists to promote road safety, marks its competitors on signals, positioning and general road sense as they tackled normal hazards such as traffic lights, junctions and roundabouts.

Because old people, afraid of burglars, are leaving their Ambler Thorn homes at night to sleep out with relatives in more thickly populated areas, Coun Kenneth Keeton is to try to persuade Queensbury and Shelf Urban Council Housing Committee to allocate a house at Ambler Thorn for a resident policeman. "We have been without a resident officer at Ambler Thorn for several months, but older residents say that before the district had one for many years. There have been several burglaries recently," said Coun Keeton.
