A man was taken to hospital after falling about 15ft down a railway embankment in Liversedge.
The incident happened at 10.12pm yesterday in Ashton Clough Road. Paramedics and firefighters from Cleckheaton were called to the scene after the man, believed to be in his 30s, was heard shouting for help.
A Fire Brigade spokesman said the crew took about 15 minutes to lift the man to safety on a spine board. He was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital.
The spokesman said: "He must have been walking along, slipped down the banking and could not get up. It was quite a steep banking to go down. I'm not sure what injuries he had but I know he was shocked and cold."
