A landmark hotel could be demolished and a new one constructed on the site.
An application to knock down the Five Flags Hotel, Manywells Brow, Cullingworth, has been submitted to Bradford Council planners.
The outline application seeks the demolition of the building and replacement on the same area with another hotel.
The 31-bedroom hotel is owned by former Keighley professional rugby league player Joe Bardgett and his wife Mandy.
Mr Bardgett said: "We plan to sell the building subject to planning permission. We will not be developing the site ourselves."
He said until the planning application had been dealt with he did not wish to say any more. The couple have owned the hotel since 2001.
A spokesman for Bradford planning department said officially the public had until Friday, May 30 to comment or object to the plan, although objections would be taken right up to the day the application went before the planning committee. No date had yet been set for the hearing.
