IT was an easy passage into the second round of the Waddilove Cup for trophy holders Guiseley.

They dismissed Upper Wharfedale for a mere 131 with skipper Mark Ross claiming three for 14 and Chris Underwood three for 37.

Guiseley went on to forge victory without losing a wicket with Howard Reeve in dominant form. He smashed an unbeaten 98 leaving opening partner Mark Ross to watch and admire as he supported with 27 not out.

Bilton gained a 31 runs win over Colton after making 202 for seven. Danny Shuffe was the top scorer with 41 while Colton had a knock of 43 from Andy Morgan as the highlight of their innings of 171 for nine. Stephen Phillips bowled well to assure Bilton of victory with four for 19 off nine overs.

Thackley passed the Alwoodley score of 180for seven with nine wickets in hand after some superb batting from openers J Trees (85 no) and K Busfield (67). Charlie Trees had taken four for 28 off nine overs as Alwoodley were held in check.

Kirkstall Educational made a match winning score of 267 for six with a brilliant 83 not out from N Walmsley and half-centuries from opener S Harrison and A Siddall.

Addingham replied with 169 all out, B Cox with four for 53 and O Gibson with three for 37 putting paid to any hopes they might have had.

In a tight finish at Knaresborough visitors Illingworth won by just three runs. Chasing 207-8 Knaresborough looked to be running away with it at 193 for five but a three wicket haul by E Fellows ended their hopes.

Green Lane progressed with a 116 runs win over Olicanians. Lane made 222 for seven with opener Jamie Pickering leading the way with a fine knock of 76.

Olicanians were then dismissed for 106 with only former Yeadon player Ally Long getting to grips with the bowling with 35. Scott Crosby (3-20) and Neil Britton (3-6) ended the Ilkley side's hopes while S Hargreaves turned the screw with a two for six return off 3.4 overs.

Pool set North Leeds a target of 185 for nine and it was only a late 61 not out from D Yeates that saw the Roundhay men to victory. C Spivey had bowled well for Pool taking three for 26 while David Murphy was their top scorer with 57.

Rawdon blasted their way into the next round in just 23 overs. Bolton Villas had been restricted to 106 for nine by some excellent bowling from Denis Rock (3-3), Kenrick Marshall (1-15), Duncan Stow (2-19) and David Whittaker (2-8). Stow then produced a knock of 42 which steered his side to a seven wickets win.

Tong Park's Indian batsman Chandar Sheikar was in magnificent form against Horsforth plundering an unbeaten 148. His innings included five sixes and 18 fours and it helped Tong Park to a final score of 299 for two.

He gained support from Chris Shepherd with 86. Horsforth replied with 209 for nine.

Otley went out after crashing out for 136 against Skipton by ten wickets.
