The number of nuisance and harassment cases taken to court by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing this year has more than doubled.
A total of 38 cases were successfully taken to court this year including nine injunctions, ten possession orders, nine evictions and ten anti-social behaviour orders involving tenants or their families or affecting council estates and other tenants.
The figures were announced in the first annual report of the newly enlarged nuisance and harassment team.
Nuisance and harassment manager Ian Sykes said: "The main reason for the very significant increase in recorded racial harassment incidents is widely believed to be because there has been a greatly increased level in the confidence of the victims to report incidents. They know that they will be taken seriously, and that action will be taken, wherever possible."
