A Bradford school today said it would not be handing out condoms and the morning-after pill to its pupils.
Laisterdyke High is taking part in the Tic Tac project, which provides advice and information for its students.
Head teacher Joan Law said the project would build on the existing advice service available to the school's 950 pupils, but would draw the line at issuing contraceptive.
"There is no intention of issuing contraceptives, condoms or the pill," she said.
Anyone inquiring about contraception would be referred to their GP or a specialist agency.
The project will run three lunch times a week, starting from Tuesday.
Social workers, doctors and health advisers will be on hand to offer advice on a range of issues including allergies, bereavement, boredom, bullying, eating disorders and family problems.
"It is an extension of what is already happening in the school through our support programme," Mrs Law said.
"We find we have an increasing demand for support from our student body, both boys and girls."
