Robert Molenaar wants to play on for another two years.
The Terminator has already fielded inquiries from England and Holland after being released by City.
But Molenaar, 34, will not be rushed into deciding where he will finish his career.
He said: "I'm not going to jump into anything. I've told myself and my family that, especially in England, things don't tend to take off until much closer to the start of the season.
"I'm happy to wait and see how it pans out. If things don't progress then it might be time to call it a day but I feel I can play for two more seasons, that's what I'm hoping." Molenaar, signed by Jim Jefferies from Leeds in December 2000, played 32 games for City last season. He left the club with mixed feelings when his contract was not renewed.
Molenaar, pictured, said: "On the one hand I've been glad to be part of City and grateful that they took me on after my long-term knee injury. But obviously I'd also hoped for a little bit better luck on the football and financial side.
"The club have been in trouble ever since I came and I've seen so many players go. We got relegated and then went into administration which was a horrible time for everyone involved.
"There are plenty of negative things to name but I still think it has been good for me."
