Hundreds of people turned out for two major events in Bradford. Crowds of cheering youngsters greeted disc jockey Jimmy Savile as he arrived to start the T & A sponsored walk. Meanwhile crowds were outside City Hall for Bradford Northern's civic reception following their Premiership Trophy triumph at Swinton on Saturday.

The first British tubeless tyre was announced today by the Dunlop Rubber Co. Instead of an inner tube the tyre has a rubber lining and the pressure of the beading against the rim of the wheel is claimed to give a seal which is proof against any escape of air.
