Hundreds of jobs have been saved after a Bradford computer supplies firm was bought just days after being put into administration by its US parent company.

ISA International, which has its headquarters in Vicar Lane, was sold yesterday by administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers.

They took charge of the company - hailed as one of the city's most successful businesses - on Friday night when it was placed into voluntary administration following cash problems at its American parent company Daisytek International, which only bought the Bradford firm last year.

But the future of ISA - which employed 1,200 people across five countries including 290 in Bradford - was safeguarded yesterday when a bid headed by London businessman Brett Palos and the Gold family was accepted. The deal will secure at least 700 jobs at ISA's offices in Bradford and Scandinavia, where the firm will continue to operate as ISA Trading Limited. A buyer is still being sought for its operations in Germany and France.

Today joint administrator Edward Klempka, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers' Leeds office, said "This prompt action has ensured a seamless transfer of the businesses to new owners who are able to continue trading the business."

he said. "It will provide continuity of service to customers and preserve the employment of about 700 staff in 14 locations with consolidated annual revenue of more than £250 million."

A spokesman for ISA said the company, which has been in Bradford since 1986, had a bright future under its new owners.

He said: "The ISA businesses acquired are already very successful in their respective country markets. The additional experience the new owners bring to sales, marketing and purchasing provides for a very exciting future in which customers, suppliers and employees will mutually benefit."
