A massive £50,000 haul of Yorkshire stone has been stolen from Guiseley - possibly in broad daylight
The 5,500 yards of roof slates were taken from the site of the 125-year-old Silver Cross factory - and so far, police say no-one seems to have seen the theft happen.
The crime is believed to have happened between 9am on Wednesday, May 16, and 12pm on Friday, May 19.
Neighbourhood Watch Lia-ison Officer at Weetwood Police, Peter Krushniak said: "This is a huge crime and the thieves must have been very organised in stealing the stone.
"It would have taken a lot of effort and there must have been lorries involved to cart such a huge amount of stone away."
Mr Krushniak added that because the site has been empty for a number of months, any lorries in the vicinity and men working on the roof would not look overly suspicious.
He said: "We are appealing for anyone to come forward with information but there is a likelihood people will not remember anything because it could have looked so normal.
"We really want people to rack their brains and if they remember any vehicles at the site or workers in the area, please call us.
"The problem with stone thefts is weekly, but this crime is massive and must have been well calculated."
