THE remains of missing North Craven rescue dog Rhona have been found in quicksand at Helwith Bridge Quarry, five months after the 13-year-old collie disappeared. A worker at the quarry phoned Rhona's owner, Andy Colau, after discovering the dog's collar and remains. "She was right below where I used to live at Foredale so I think she must have gone back there and got confused," said Andy, whose dogs are specially trained to find people trapped in fallen buildings as well as those lost on the fells. Many local people were involved in the search for Rhona after she disappeared from Andy's house in Stainforth and there was an appeal in the Herald. "I'm glad it's turned out like this and she wasn't taken and mistreated by somebody. At least now I know what's happened," said Andy.
