Skipton Gala will have a procession this year after fears about public safety have been overcome.
The procession has formed the centrepiece of the gala for more than 100 years.
The committee has been in long discussions with the police about how the event can be supervised after concerns earlier in the year that the procession might not even go ahead. But any problems have been sorted out and the committee hopes as many people as possible will take part to ensure its success on June 14.
The procession will start at Westmoreland Street at 2pm and will travel via Sackville Street, Keighley Road, High Street, Mill Bridge, Water Street and Gargrave Road to Aireville Park.
There an afternoon of activity has been planned, culminating in a firework display, sponsored by Marshall Waddingtons Fun Fair at around 10pm.
With help on the day from members of Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue and Skipton Round Table, the committee hopes that money can be raised to help local groups and charities.
