Danny Ekis today became the first Keighley player to be offered representative honours since the days of Cougarmania.
The young prop has been called up to the National League under-21s squad to take on a Super League under-21s side on July 10 as a curtain-raiser to the Arriva Trains Cup final.
And his selection has delighted Cougars coach Gary Moorby.
"It is a sign of how much has changed at this club," said Moorby.
"Eighteen months ago we were fighting against liquidation and now we are top of the league and have had a player selected for a representative side.
"I am over the moon for Danny and for the club. It is a massive pat on the back for us."
Ekis made one substitute appearance for Halifax against Castleford in Super League and Moorby has no doubts over the 5ft 10in, 16st prop's ability.
"I have every confidence on Danny," he added. "He's come on a lot in the last year, he has a great pair of hands, good feet and is explosive."
