Nashville based singer-songwriter Clive Gregson visits Haworth tomorrow for the latest concert organised by locally based Spiv Promotions.
He first attracted attention in 1980 when his band "Any Trouble" burst onto the scene having secured a record deal with the legendary Stiff Records.
The band recorded five albums, toured extensively and were described by Melody Maker as "the most exciting rock 'n' roll group since The Pretenders".
In 1985 Clive formed a partnership with Christine Collister which Rolling Stone described as "The state of the art in British folk/rock".
The pair enjoyed considerable chart success, and world tours further established Clive's reputation as an innovative leader in British folk-rock. Throughout this period, Clive was also a member of the Richard Thompson Band and in demand as a record producer and session musician.
In 1992 Clive resumed his solo career but still managed to find time to work with Eddie Reader & Boo Hewerdine in the UK, USA and Japan. He has also toured as a special guest with Nanci Griffiths and as a member of Ian Matthews group Plainsong.
A steady stream of well received albums throughout his career has resulted in Clive's status as a respected songwriter, with his songs recorded by many artists including Fairport Convention and Norma Waterson.
Jim Shipley, from Spiv Promotions, says Clive's live performances are something special and definitely not to be missed.
Tomorrow's concert is at the Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, Haworth, and starts at 8pm.
