Andy Gray was back in training with Scotland today hoping he has done enough to feature in the crunch clash with Germany.
The Scots face their Euro 2004 qualifying group leaders at Hampden on June 7 with both sides locked on seven points along with third-placed Lithuania.
And City striker Gray, pictured, believes he has a chance of being involved in the biggest game since Berti Vogts took charge.
Gray won his second full cap last night against New Zealand at Tynecastle. He came on for Sunderland's Kevin Kyle for the final half hour but could not prevent Scotland from being held to a 1-1 draw by the minnows.
Gray had no real chances but came within a whisker of reaching a late cross as Scotland struggled to find a winner.
They were booed off at the end but a defiant Vogts said: "We can win against Germany, yes. I have a very good feeling. This was a great step in the right direction."
Gray, who made his debut in Lithuania in March, will stay with the squad for two days of training. They will re-assemble after the weekend for the build-up to the Germany clash.
Gray said: "The Germany game is the one everyone has been focusing on. Everyone is concentrating on such a big occasion and it would be great to be involved.
"The manager has said that places are up for grabs and we are all desperate to play."
