The father of a 24-year-old cancer sufferer today paid tribute to the "angels" who helped to care for him when he spent his last weeks with his family.
And he thanked the friends and colleagues of his son, Lee Greenwood, who have raised £5,000 in his memory.
About £1,000 has been donated to the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can... Cancer Research Appeal.
Lee's father John Greenwood, 52, of Gaisby Lane, Shipley, said a cheque had also gone to Cancer Research UK.
Mr Greenwood said Lee had taken the brave decision to go home for his last six weeks rather than stay in St James's Hospital, Leeds, where he was being treated for a malignant melanoma on his shoulder.
"It started off as a small blemish," Mr Greenwood said.
"He had surgery a couple of times.
"But the disease took over his whole body.
"Lee courageously decided he would like to spend his last weeks with his family and the health professionals, including the Macmillan nurses, home helps, cancer support group and his own doctor were among those who made it possible.
"They were angels," said Mr Greenwood.
"There were night staff, drugs and a specialised bed and they were always on call. We would like some of the funds to help people who want to make the same choice."
Lee's friends and colleagues from Butterfield Signs Ltd in Sunbridge Road, Bradford, where he worked held a special football match for him which he attended before he died.
A memorial evening held for Lee has raised the last £1,500 for the appeal which is now closing and Mr Greenwood said they hoped to make the evening an annual event.
