Members of St James' Church at Cross Roads were Beating the Bounds at the weekend.
The historic act, which involves walking the extremes of the parish, historically was held to check the boundaries and ensure markers had not been moved by anyone laying claim to land.
On Sunday the St James' Church members walked the 10-or-so miles bounding the parish, enjoying a lunch break at Damems Station before tackling the climb to Hainworth village.
A church spokesman said: "It often surprises people that a church is not just about the building, but more about the area of community that it ministers to.
"We always try to encourage people to be part of the whole church life, not necessarily just the Sunday morning service but also the social aspects. Just take a look at our website - www.view-from-the-pew.co.uk - to see that we have much to offer all ages."
