Youngsters at Eastwood Primary School have come up with some blooming bright ideas to raise cash for Manorlands.

Staff and pupils at the Keighley school are holding a number of events, including a sports quiz, to raise money for the Sue Ryder Care hospice in Oxenhope.

Manorlands is once again taking part in the national Hospice Care Campaign, which is urging people across the country to go yellow on Friday, June 20, to raise funds.

Last year Manorlands raised £5,000 thanks to local businesses and schools holding different events on a yellow theme, and through the sale of sunflower buttonholes, the emblem for the campaign.

Manorlands fundraiser Chris Bown says: "We have got some businesses and schools in this area taking part again, and the support we receive from places like Eastwood is fantastic, but we are hoping that more will come forward to take part.

"The aim of the go yellow campaign is to raise awareness about the care provided by the 283 hospices across the UK and to raise as much money as possible."

A new addition to this year's campaign is the invitation for people to take 'Tea at Three', which staff at Bradford & Bingley Building Society have accepted by organising their own tea party.

A tasty challenge will be served up by McDonald's in Keighley and Colin Appleyard Motorcycles on Saturday June 21. McDonald's will donate £1 for every vehicle using its drive-through on Hard Ings Road between noon and 2pm.

The fast-food company will make a further donation if its record of 300-plus vehicles is beaten.

The sunflower buttonholes are available in supermarkets and town centre shops.

Anyone who would like to take part in go yellow day can contact the Manorlands fundraising office on 01535 640161.
