Police in Keighley yesterday launched a massive crime-busting blitz.
The special operation, part of the hugely successful Target initiative, involved more than 30 officers including members of the headquarters task force and special constables.
Teams yesterday morning raided several addresses in Keighley in relation to various alleged offences. Three arrests were made in connection with burglary and vehicle crimes, and breach of a court sentence.
CCTV surveillance in the town centre led to three further arrests, two for non-payment of fines and one for breaching bail.
As part of the crackdown, a dog specially trained to sniff out drugs on people was also in action around the town centre. PC Chris Glassett and his two-year-old labrador Sony were backed-up by Keighley PCs Haydn Lyness and Giles Massey.
PC Glassett said: "Sony is only young but he is very good at his job. If he picks up the scent of drugs on anyone passing he will let me know so that the person can be talked to and perhaps searched."
Intelligence officers searched for known crime suspects, and high-visibility patrols were in operation at Lawkholme and Haworth.
The blitz was launched as part of a massive initiative covering all five police districts in West Yorkshire.
And it marks a milestone for the Target campaign, which has now entered its third year.
