The Circus is back in town with a new guy parading around the ring.

And as this troupe climbs the high wire of fame it aims to keep the hometown crowd happy.

Circus, one of Keighley's brightest rock hopes, stopped playing last year following the departure of bass player Toby Izod.

Singer-guitarist Tony Ousey and drummer Mickey Waddington have now recruited former Moondog bassist Mike Gott.

The first full-length gig will be on Sunday June 8 at the Love Apple Cafe, Great Horton Road, Bradford.

There will be a headline gig at the Market Tavern, Bradford, on July 5, supported by highly-regarded Keighley band operator 6.

Circus has a planned support slot with The Culprits the same month at Haworth Community Centre.

Tony describes the current Circus sound as "pretty much grunge". He added: "I've never really classed us as punk.

"I think we've got a little bit better -- we're not as heavy as before."

nFormer Big Bang singer Gary Kaye performs solo at the New Roscoe, Leeds, on June 9. Expect a sound blending Paul Weller, Tom McRae and Elvis Costello.

nAcoustic blues singer-guitarist Emily Druce is again coming over the hill from Hebden Bridge to Haworth.
